Kenyir Lake

Kenyir Lake is a place for nature to co-exist with human. Diptrocarp is the major family tree found here. It is commonly known as Meranti and considered as high-quality hardwood tree species. Other plants that commonly spotted are Labisia pumilla (Kacip Fatimah), Cinnamomun iners (Wild Cinnamon), Licuala longipes (Palas) and Melastoma malabathricum (Senduduk). Most of the plants have also been used as an alternative medicine by the villagers.

Currently, the Malaysian Government is planning to develop Kenyir Lake as an ECO-TOURISM spot; including to introduce agriculture plants in one of the island. In the future, Kenyir Lake will not only becoming a fishers favourite spot, but also a place for tourists to gain knowledge on agro-biodiversity and tropical plants. Most existing plants, of course will be preserved throughout the development.

These are some of the amazing images and views of Kenyir Lake that you should not miss if you are visiting Terengganu, Malaysia.

Hopefully, our next generation will have the opportunity to see these images and hundred of years to come if only we make an effort to preserve them like our culture and heritage.
