Kenyir Lake, Terengganu, Malaysia

Located in the east-coast of Malaysia, Terengganu is one of Malaysia tourists attraction famous for its beautiful sandy beaches, culture and foods. Apart from that, Terengganu also known for the largest man-made lake in Southeast Asia, Tasik Kenyir or Kenyir Lake. It is covered by more than 340 islands; and the biggest island would be estimated as big as Singapore.



Kenyir Lake got its name from one of the river known as Kenyir River; however the river is beneath the lake when Kenyir Lake filled by the rainfall and other water sources. The above photo was taken early in the morning. You can see the wonderful sight of fog covering the hills.


The reflection of the water is amazing; clear and serene. The lake is known for its uniqueness and beautiful scenario of tropical forest; among the world’s oldest tropical rain forest in Malaysia. It is the habitat of more than 8000 species of flowers, 2500 species of plants and trees, 8000 species of orchids, 300 species of fresh water fish and 370 species of birds. Definitely a good place for nature lovers.


The flora and fauna flourishes in the forest and preserved to stay for you to discover and enjoy. A tranquil place to see hundreds species of wildlife, exotic birds, fish and fauna.

The four photos respectively was taken at a guesthouse only for government officers. The implementation of traditional Terengganu architecture can be seen clearly on the rooftop. Traditional motive on the eaves of the wooden jetty is commonly found in the traditional buildings in Terengganu; and cannot be found in the other states in Malaysia
